Princess Charlene of Monaco.\u00a0 The evening will be highlighted by the presentation of 24 awards to emerging artists in theater, dance and film, who hail from cities and states across America and will travel to New York City to receive their honor at the glamorous black tie ceremony followed by dinner, dancing and an exclusive silent auction.\u00a0 In addition, we will recognize a prominent leader in the arts whose own accomplishments inspire the next generation of artists with the prestigious Prince Rainier III Award.\u00a0 In past years, this Award has been bestowed upon\u00a0Julie Andrews, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Glenn Close, George Lucas, Mandy Patinkin, Twyla Tharp,\u00a0and\u00a0Denzel&amp;\u00a0Pauletta Washington.<\/p>\n<p>For more than three decades, the Princess Grace Awards program has provided encouragement and support to the most talented emerging artists in America, and has become one of the nation\u2019s premier grant-making institutions.\u00a0\u00a0Notable past recipients include\u00a0\u00a0Stephen Hillenburg, creator of\u00a0<em>SpongeBob SquarePants<\/em>;\u00a0Tony Kushner, Pulitzer-Prize winning author of\u00a0<em>Angels in America<\/em>;\u00a0Robert Battle, Artistic Director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater;\u00a0Jon Chu, award-winning film director of the\u00a0<em>GI Joe<\/em>\u00a0<em>2: Cobra Strikes<\/em>\u00a0sequel, and\u00a0Anna D.
