Crown Prince Jacques and H.S.H. Princess Gabriella.<\/p>\n<p>Funds received from this event will be donated to the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The Foundation operates programmes worldwide namely \u201cLearn to Swim\u201d and \u201cWater Safety\u201d and its mission is to raise public awareness to the dangers of water, to teach children how to swim as well as preventative measures.\u00a0 During the course of 2014 these programmes reached more than 40,000 children internationally.<\/p>\n<p>Its main objective is to save lives by fighting against drowning.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cSport and Education\u201d programme supports the belief that physical education is an important tool that contributes to the well-being of children.<\/p>\n<p>Sport plays a fundamental role in a child\u2019s developmental process.\u00a0 It allows young people to learn about the importance of key values and life skills such as:\u00a0 respect, cooperation, honesty, fair play, interaction, communication, competition, determination and adherence to rules.<\/p>\n<p>One of the main \u201cSport and Education\u201d projects for 2015 is the\u00a0\u00abSouth Africa \u2013 Monaco Rugby Exchange\u00bb.\u00a0 Underprivileged South African children, who were chosen based on their athletic achievements, have been invited to the Saint Devote Rugby Tournament which will take place on Saturday, 11<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0April thanks to a collaboration with the South African Rugby Legends Association (SARLA).<\/p>\n<p>The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation will be welcoming this team to the Principality and will in turn be able to send a Monegasque team to South Africa this coming summer.\u00a0 In addition to participating in the rugby tournament, the children from both nations will take part in academic and social activities in order to broaden their understanding of different cultures and lifestyles.<\/p>\n<p>SARLA announced during the cocktail that they were naming Mr. Gareth Wittstock a lifelong Honorary Member for his hard work in organising this exchange.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For more information on the South African Rugby Legends Association (SARLA):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sarugbylegends.com\/\">www.sarugbylegends.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a9 Nebinger \/ Mathon \/ Palais Princier<\/p>\n<p class=\"postmetadata alt\"><small>This entry was posted on Friday, February 20th, 2015 at 1:37 pm and is filed under\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/monaco-consulate.com\/category\/event\/\" rel=\"category tag\">Event<\/a>.
