The Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Violins of Hope – May 5, 2013

A very special concert, Violins of Hope will be presented by the Friends of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Monte- Carlo on Sunday, May 5 at 7:30pm at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco. Under the baton of the Orchestra’s Artistic and Musical Director, Gianluigi Gelmetti, violinists Shlomo Mintz and Cihat Askin will join the musicians of the acclaimed orchestra to play the 4th movement of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, the so-called “Fate” Symphony that has become the symphony of hope. From an original idea, “Musical Chairs”, by Benny Boret and Yakov Adorn, it features a unique collection of violins – rescued from Holocaust victims and lovingly restored – in the workshop of renowned violin luthier, Amnon Weinstein. This concert is organized for the benefit of the University of Jerusalem, for the center for brain research and the environment. Learn more at www.opmc.mc
