Seawards, Monaco faces the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_text_column us_custom_80a192e9\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p>Its surface area is 485 acres, of which nearly 100 were recovered from the sea during the course of the last twenty years. Monaco lies on a narrow coastal strip, which sometimes rises vertically upwards with its highest point at 206 feet. Its width varies between .65 miles and a mere 382 yards. Its coastline is 2.5 miles long. The Principality has only one commune, Monaco, whose limits are the same as those of the state.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"l-section wpb_row us_custom_19737bc8 height_large\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_grid cols_1 laptops-cols_1 tablets-cols_inherit mobiles-cols_1 valign_top type_default stacking_default\" style=\"--gap:2rem;\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"w-text us_custom_8f6630a9\"><span class=\"w-text-h\"><span class=\"w-text-value\">Monaco is divided into five areas:<\/span><\/span><\/div><div class=\"w-tabs style_default switch_click accordion has_scrolling\" style=\"--sections-title-size:inherit\"><div class=\"w-tabs-sections titles-align_none icon_chevron cpos_right\"><div class=\"w-tabs-section\" id=\"y292\"><button class=\"w-tabs-section-header\" aria-controls=\"content-y292\" aria-expanded=\"false\"><div class=\"w-tabs-section-title\">Monaco-Ville on the Rocher<\/div><div class=\"w-tabs-section-control\"><\/div><\/button><div  class=\"w-tabs-section-content\" id=\"content-y292\"><div class=\"w-tabs-section-content-h i-cf\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p>the old fortified town, with the Prince\u2019s Palace, the ramparts, the gardens, the Cathedral and the Oceanographic Museum.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"w-tabs-section\" id=\"f3ab\"><button class=\"w-tabs-section-header\" aria-controls=\"content-f3ab\" aria-expanded=\"false\"><div class=\"w-tabs-section-title\">The Condamine<\/div><div class=\"w-tabs-section-control\"><\/div><\/button><div  class=\"w-tabs-section-content\" id=\"content-f3ab\"><div class=\"w-tabs-section-content-h i-cf\"><div class=\"w-text\"><span class=\"w-text-h\"><span class=\"w-text-value\">is the second oldest area in Monaco. The name comes from the Middle Ages and means the cultivable land at the foot of a village or castle.<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"w-tabs-section\" id=\"g458\"><button class=\"w-tabs-section-header\" aria-controls=\"content-g458\" aria-expanded=\"false\"><div class=\"w-tabs-section-title\">Monte-Carlo,<\/div><div class=\"w-tabs-section-control\"><\/div><\/button><div  class=\"w-tabs-section-content\" id=\"content-g458\"><div class=\"w-tabs-section-content-h i-cf\"><div class=\"w-text\"><span class=\"w-text-h\"><span class=\"w-text-value\">created in 1866, named in honor of Prince Charles III, hosts an internationally famous Casino, luxury hotels and leisure facilities, some created recently (Larvotto beach, the Monte Carlo Sporting Club, the Boulingrins<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"w-tabs-section\" id=\"e4fb\"><button class=\"w-tabs-section-header\" aria-controls=\"content-e4fb\" aria-expanded=\"false\"><div class=\"w-tabs-section-title\">Fontvieille<\/div><div class=\"w-tabs-section-control\"><\/div><\/button><div  class=\"w-tabs-section-content\" id=\"content-e4fb\"><div class=\"w-tabs-section-content-h i-cf\"><div class=\"w-text\"><span class=\"w-text-h\"><span class=\"w-text-value\">is the newest area of the Principality of Monaco and was created from land reclaimed from the sea.
