May 26, 2010<\/em> \u2013 The renowned boys\u2019 choir of the Principality of Monaco has again chosen North America for its annual summer tour and will offer a series of free concerts in New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Charlotte, Orlando, Stuart, Palm Beach, Coral Gables and Miami this July<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"MonacoThe musical repertoire \u2013 directed by Pierre Debat \u2013 will include sacred musical works by Charpentier, Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Faur\u00e9 and Franck; French and Mon\u00e9gasque folk songs; English-language songs such as \u201cMy Love is a Red, Red Rose\u201d and \u201cJoshua\u201d and patriotic American songs \u201cGod Bless America\u201d, \u201cAmerica The Beautiful\u201d and \u201cThe Star Spangled Banner\u201d.<\/p>\n

The award-winning boys\u2019 choir, founded in 1973 under the patronage of H.S.H. Prince Rainier III, brings together over 30 children\u2019s voices. Created to showcase the Principality\u2019s historic association with culture and the performing arts, the choir is a part of the Monaco Cathedral Choir and is composed of talented children as young as eight years old, who have passed rigorous examinations to be admitted into the prestigious group.\u00a0 After substantial training, the group traditionally embarks on a spring tour of Europe and a summer tour to more far-flung destinations.\u00a0 The Little Singers, especially popular for their unusual repertoire of works written for children, have visited over 35 nations around the world and perform an average of 30 to 40 concerts a year.<\/p>\n

The Monaco Boys Choir is placed under the patronage of H.S.H. the Prince of Monaco. With of the generous support of the Mon\u00e9gasque government, the choir is able to donate its talents to concerts organized on behalf of humanitarian associations throughout the world.<\/p>\n

On previous visits to the U.S., the choir has appeared at many prestigious venues including live on NBC\u2019s Today show (1999), Yankee Stadium for a rendition of \u201cGod Bless America\u201d at a game opening and Bryant Park in New York City (2002), the Kennedy Center in DC, the Kravis Center in Palm Beach and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
