MonacoUSA Commemorates the 25th Anniversary of September 11 in New York
Sept 25, 2026
Members and friends of MonacoUSA visited the Consulate General of Monaco in New York on Friday, September 25, as part of their trip to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. They were welcomed by H.E. Maguy Maccario Doyle, Ambassador of Monaco to the United States, and Senior Officer Karla Modolo.
The visitors included MonacoUSA Board member Merrily Lustig Tornatore and her husband, Rémy Tornatore; International University of Monaco alumni Andrew Agnello and Benjamin Franco; and Jenny Gelfan and Marsha Fraser of Vermont.
The group came to honor the first responders who lost their lives and to reaffirm the enduring friendship and solidarity between Monaco and the United States. On Sunday, September 27, they will take part in the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk, which is expected to draw nearly 30,000 participants.
The route retraces the final journey of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller, one of the 343 New York City firefighters who died on September 11, 2001. This will be Merrily Lustig Tornatore’s sixth time participating. A native New Yorker who has lived in Monaco for many years, she maintains a deep personal connection to the city and to the events of that day.
